THE CHAT 'N HACKING CHOO-CHOO

Phillip Morris isn't sitting around fretting about moves to limit tobacco advertising in the United States, which have the support of President Clinton. The company is chugging full steam ahead with a promotion for its Marlboro cigarettes. Smokers have a chance to win a five-day train trip through Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho and Montana on board the Marlboro Unlimited. Activities on the trip include hiking, mountain-biking, white-water rafting, rodeoing and ballooning. Painted in the red and white colors of the Marlboro cigarette package, the train has hot tubs, bars, a dance club, a movie theatre and two restaurants. Ads announcing the promotion will appear in November issues of Vanity Fair, Newsweek and People. Other promotions Phillips has run to tout its top-selling brand are the Marlboro Adventure Team and the Marlboro Country Store. It has given away 19 million T-shirts, caps, jackets and other items, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
