CALEXIS MAKES MOVE INTO NORTH AMERICAN MARKET

Toronto-based Calexis Corp. has taken a step towards becoming a North American agency. The firm has bought Hoberlin Advertising of Oakville, Ont., which also has an office in Erie, Pennsylvania. "This merger will create a Canadian-based, internationally competitive agency with a strong North American platform that allows us to cost-effectively deliver quality creative and services to Canadians, and retain high quality advertising service jobs in Canada," Hoberlin chairman and CEO William Anderson says in a release. Calexis made the move because of the increased level of global competition. It believes the newly-formed agency will be able to act as a lead agency for any corporation and will be able to help Canadian companies increase their exports in more markets worldwide. Hoberlin specializes in local store and database marketing. Calexis' client list includes: Chubb Insurance, Deliotte & Touche, Parmalat and Riso. Hoberlin's primary account is the Subway sandwich chain.
