CINEPLEX OFFERS PATRONS MORE PRIVACY

Cineplex Odeon theatres of Toronto brought Hollywood to Toronto last week. The theatre chain opened four private screening rooms in its Varsity Cinemas location in downtown Toronto. The rooms have a seating capacity of between 24 and 36 people per room and feature plush, high-back seats imported from France. In addition, the rooms have individual side tables to hold hot and cold food as well as beverages and a concierge who will check your coat and personally deliver concession items right to our seat. Gourmet cuisine is available upon request. The rooms also have curved screens and digital sound. They are open to the public and can also be rented out for corporate events. The rooms are being promoted using print ads in The Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail and The Financial Post. The ads were created in-house. Cineplex marketing and communications executive vice-president Howard Lichtman told Adnews yesterday that Cineplex will see how successful the first rooms are before it decides whether or not to put them in other theatres.
