By Adnews Staff
Former President's Choice pitchman Dave Nichol launched the first beer in his International Selection line of brew last week. Called Dave's Doppelgold, the drink is brewed in a Bavarian style with Hersbrucker hops from Germany, has 5.9% alcohol and is sold $11.95 for a 12-pack. Advertising for the cut-price brew, which is being sold in Ontario, will begin in two weeks. Print, TV and point-of-sale materials will be used, created by MacLaren: McCann of Toronto. Nichol, the president of Toronto-based Cott Corporation, has his signature on one other line of discount beer, called Personal Selection. It is available in Ontario in five versions: Original Recipe, Premium Light, Premium Draft, Premium Strong and Premium Ice. Nichol beers are made by Lakeport Brewing Corporation in Hamilton, Ont., a division of Cott Corporation.
