Toronto-based Leo Burnett Canada has added still more new faces to its offices. Fred Roberts, previously art director at Cossette, has moved to the same position at Leo Burnett. Chris McGroarty has joined the company as copywriter. He also was most recently at Cossette in the same position. Chris Tropak, formerly copywriter at Bates Canada, has joined Leo Burnett in the same capacity. Finally, Kara Dienesch has joined the company as account executive. Previously she held the same position at Bozell Worldwide, Canada. Carole Kerbel has been appointed general manager of Hill and Knowlton's Toronto operations. The new role is in addition to her existing position of executive vice-president. Prior to joining Hill and Knowlton in 1997 Kerbel operated Kerbel Communications for 21 years. Also at Hill and Knowlton, Ed Arundell, senior vice-president and business leader for corporate affairs, takes on the new position of national practice leader for corporate communications. Senior vice-president and business leader of the marketing communications group, Susan Fraser, has become national practice leader. Senior vice-president Jim Warrington is now director of business development and corporate marketing.

Rogers Cantel Inc., based in Toronto, has appointed William Gibson to the position of western region president. In this position he will be responsible for Cantel's marketing, sales, customer and distribution requirements in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Previously Gibson was business units vice-president at Denver-based Lucent Technologies. He has also served as general manager of Sprint PCS and vice-president/general manager of cellular and paging at Ameritech, as well as various other positions at a number of communications technology companies over the past 25 years. Denis Tremblay has been elected to the board of directors of Montreal-based Canada NewsWire Quebec effective April 1. Most recently he was vice-president of french services at Canadian Press, but he has also held numerous editorial positions at Quebec-based newspapers.
