London-based WPP Group PLC has acquired two American consulting companies which specialize in high-tech marketing. They are MSI Channel Research and Consulting L.L.C. of Seattle and Charles River Strategies Inc. of Boston. Both firms advise high-tech companies on marketing and sales strategy development, research and implementation. They will continue to operate as independent entities under WPP's ownership. Taken together, the two companies have billings of approximately $70 million (U.S.) per year. With these acquisitions, WPP's annual high-tech billings will total over $250 million (U.S.) Charles River CEO Robert Kazartan said, "The combined skills and experience of MSI and Charles River Strategies will extend our ability to help our clients continue to win in high technology markets. Relationships with WPP companies will enable us to bring a broader range of capabilities to our clients on a world-wide basis."
