PALMER JARVIS CLEANS UP AT AWARDS

Vancouver-based Palmer Jarvis DDB (formerly Palmer Jarvis Communications) walked away the big winner at the 1998 Marketing Awards handed out on March 26, taking almost a third of all the awards including six of the 10 gold awards. Palmer Jarvis' ads for Crime Stoppers were the biggest successes, winning gold in the transit campaign, transit single, public service campaign and public service single categories. Palmer Jarvis also took two gold awards for its ads for Vancouver amusement park Playland, as well as silver, bronze and certificate awards for ads on behalf of McDonald's Restaurants, Insurance Corporation of B.C., Bugaboos EyeWear, Richmond Savings Credit Union and Roger Grais Carpentry, for a total of 30 awards in all. Gold awards were also won by Leo Burnett Co. Ltd. of Toronto for a single 30-second TV spot on behalf of Kellogg Special K cereal; The Holmes Partnership of Toronto for a TV spot on behalf of Delmax Pharmaceutical's Nettlemax muscle ointment; Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto for a single out-of-home ad on behalf of Jaguar; and SMW Inc. of Toronto for a single magazine ad on behalf of Nikon Canada binoculars. The Marketing Awards are produced annually by Marketing Magazine.
