CIBC OFFERS BELOW PRIME MORTGAGE
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce is offering mortgages at below prime interest rates in its latest promotion that will begin in April. Under the plan, the mortgage will be set at one-quarter of a percentage point lower than the prime rate in a five-year, closed, variable-rate mortgage. Homeowners can convert their mortgage to a closed, fixed-rate mortgage of five years or more at any point during the term without having to pay a penalty fee. In addition, customers will receive a special introductory interest rate of .51% below prime from April 1 to July 31. During this time, the rate will remain at .51% below prime and will fluctuate with the prime rate. The mortgage plan will be promoted using in-branch materials created in-house with the help of Padulo Integrated of Toronto.
