IBM EXTENDS AMBRA LINE

IBM Canada of Markham, Ont. added a new family of machines to its line of Ambra Ispriati computers this week. Called the Ambra Inspirit 400 Series, the computers are geared to small business owners, first-time buyers and computer owners looking for an additional PC at home. They features television output to allow owners to use their TV set as a monitor, 24X CD-ROM, 64-bit audio system and a 56 kpbs modem. Models start with 32MB RAM and 2.5 gigabyte hard drives. Monitors for the computers range in size from 14-inch to 27-inch. The 400 Series comes pre-installed with Windows 95, Lotus SmartSuite '97, the 1998 Canadian & World Encyclopedia and IBM AntiVirus. Some models also include IBM Voicetype Simply Speaking Gold and the IBM Home Director Starter Kit. IBM will support the new computers using print ads in national newspapers. The ads will be created by Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto. PR is done by Goodman Communications of Toronto. IBM markets its Ambra family of computers only in Canada.
