HOME HARDWARE BUILDS NEW PROMOTION
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Home Hardware is giving away a ten-day Canadian tour in its latest promotion that began this week. Under the deal, customers can fill out a ballot at one of 960 Home Hardware outlets in Canada. Twenty winners will be chosen to embark on an all-inclusive tour aboard a private Via Rail Canada train, which will include the art deco Park car, the Bullet Lounge, which features wraparound windows, four luxury sleeper cars, a dining car, coach car and baggage car. One car of the train has been dubbed the Home Hardware locomotive because it features the retailer's trademark bright yellow, red and white colors. During the tour, winners will have a chance to visit communities in Canada and will be treated to special excursions and receptions. They will also be given $500 spending money. TV and print advertising will support the contest, as well as point-of-purchase materials and a coupon book. The TV and print ads were created by the Saffer Group of Toronto, while the point-of-purchase-materials and coupon book were handled by KCS Marketing Group of Maple, Ont. The promotion was developed by Saffer, KCS and VIA Rail.
