XEROX MOVES PRINTER INTO RETAIL MARKET
By Adnews Staff
Xerox Canada began selling a new printer at the retail level for the first time earlier this month in a bid to increase its share of the small and home office market. Until now, all Xerox printers were sold through corporate resellers. The printer is called the DocuPrint P12. It prints 12-pages-per-minute at 600 X 600 dots-per-inch. The P12 features Adobe PrintGear technology, which enables the printer to run at its rated engine speed while printing complex documents such as graphics and photographic images. To promote the printer, Xerox will offer a free software bundle with the purchase of a P12. The printer will be supported with co-op advertising handled by retailers. Xerox already sells its copiers and multi-function products through the retail market. The P12 will be available in the U.S. at the end of the month.
