COMPAQ SUPPORTS ARMADA, SERVERS

Compaq Canada of Richmond Hill, Ont. is supporting its notebook and servers in its latest promotion. The computer maker launched a program late last month offering a free ArmadaStation Expansion Base to purchasers of an Armada 7300 or 7700 notebook computer. The promotion runs until March 31. Purchasers of a ProLiant 1600 tower server of ProLiant 1600R rack-mounted system will receive a free Smart 2SL RAID Array Controller, which increases the storage subsystem's reliability and performance. The promotion runs until April 30. The server program is being promoted using ads in daily newspaper created by Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of Toronto.
Separately, Compaq has dropped the prices of selected notebooks and workstations by 25%. The affected machines are the Armada 1500, 4100, 7300 and 7700 Series, as well as the entry-level Workstation 5000 Series, the mid-range 6000 Series workstations and the flagship 8000 workstation family. The price reductions are being supported with newspaper and business magazine ads created by Ammirati.
