DEADLINE APPROACHING FOR ENTREPRENEUR AWARDS
By Adnews Staff
Deadline for nominations into the 1998 Entrepreneur of the Year awards is May 4. To qualify, a nominee must be an entrepreneur who is primarily responsible for the recent performance of a privately-held business that is at least two-years-old. Founders of public companies are also eligible, as long as the founder is still active in top management. The EOY program recognizes entreprepreneurial excellence. New categories for this year's nominations are: technology, communications, entertainment, healthcare, manufacturing-consumer product and manufacturing-industrial. Other categories are agriculture and food, financial services, hospitality/tourism, life sciences, natural resources, real estate/construction, retail, services and wholesale/distribution. The search for the best entrepreneurs will take place in five regions across Canada. From there, regional awards will be presented, then a national entrepreneur will be selected from the regional winners. The EOY program is organized by Ernst & Young, Canadian Business magazine, the Bank of Montreal, Nesbitt Burns, McCarthy Tetrault and Air Canada.
