LCBO TO RAISE MONEY FOR COMMONWEALTH GAMES
By Adnews Staff
The Liquor Control Board of Ontario is hoping to raise $200,000 in a month-long promotion to help Canadian athletes competing at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. The promotion will begin March 4 and will feature 96 products from 27 suppliers. Participating suppliers have donated $150,000 and the LCBO is counting on its customers to raise the other $50,000. LCBO shoppers will be able to buy a commemorative Quest for Glory T-shirt. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the shirts will be donated to the Canadian Commonwealth team. Donation boxes will also be set up at the stores. An in-store contest will offer a grand prize of a trip for two to Kuala Lumpur including tickets to the opening and closing ceremonies of the games and two sporting events. Second prize is a home office furniture suite. During the promotion, LCBO outlets will feature color photos of swimmers and track and field athletes in action. A brochure will provide information on the games, as well as tropical cocktail recipes. The in-store materials supporting the promotion were created in-house.
