BOWES TO BUY ALBERTA COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER OPERATION

Bowes Publishers Ltd. of London, Ont. has signed an agreement to buy WestMount Press Ltd. of Cochrane, Alberta. The deal is subject to close about March 31. The move puts another 19 weekly newspapers under Bowes belt including Cochrane This Week, The High River Times, The Airdrie Echo, The Squamish Chief, as well as a commercial press operation in Cochrane. Bowes publishes over 80 community newspapers. It is owned by Sun Media Corp. of Toronto.
