MICHELIN ALLOWS DRIVERS TO DRIVE WITH FLATS
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Michelin North America says it is making it easier to deal with flat tires. The company will launch a new tire this summer in North America that can travel for a certain amount of time with no air pressure, giving drivers the opportunity to find to a convenient and safe location for assistance. Called the X-One ZP, the tire's sidewall provides the vertical stiffness needed to support the weight of the vehicle as well as the lateral handling a driver must have to maintain control of the vehicle if a tire suddenly loses air. In addition to the sidewall reinforcements, a specially designed tire bead helps keep the tire on the wheel after total air loss. The all-season tire is backed by a six-year unlimited mileage tread life warranty, as well as free replacement during the first two years of service, or 50% of tread life of the tire is damaged beyond repair during a low-pressure situation. The tire will be available in three sizes. In Canada, advertising for Michelin is done by Palmer Jarvis DDB Canada of Toronto.
