MTS OFFERS CHEAPEE LONG DISTANCE CALLS

MTS of Winnipeg launched a provincewide print campaign this week for its First Rate long-distance savings plan and its nine-cent a minute Saturdays. Radio and TV ads will follow shortly. The campaign was created by Palmer Jarvis DDB Canada's Winnipeg office. MTS is a member of Stentor, providing local, long distance, wireless, directory and multimedia telecommunications services in Manitoba. Under its First Rate plan, customers can call across Canada for 10-cents-a-minute each evening between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. On Saturdays, consumers can call across Canada for nine-cents-a-minute. The First Rate plan was introduced this week. The Saturday savings kicked in early last month. In addition, MTS has lowered the cost of overseas calls. Bell Canada introduced the First Rate long-distance plan in Ontario and Quebec late last month.
