BELL CANADA UPDATE

Bell Canada of Toronto will launch a campaign this week to promote its new long-distance calling plan. The campaign will use transit, outdoor, TV, newspaper and World Wide Web ads created by Leo Burnett Co. of Toronto. Direct mail and flyers will also be used. Bell Canada announced its new plan last week, offering customers 10-cent a minute calls from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weeknights and anytime all weekend long. Calls to the U.S. are 20 cents. International calls have also been discounted. AT&T Canada and Sprint Canada, both of Toronto, announced their new or revamped long-distance savings plans last week as well.
