AMERICAN EXPRESS LAUNCHES SECOND AIR MILES CREDIT CARD

American Express of Markham, Ont. has joined forces once again with The Loyalty Group of Toronto to launch a co-branded credit card. Called the American Express Air Miles Gold Credit Card, users will receive one Air Miles travel mile with every $20 worth of purchases on the card. In addition, they will receive an activation bonus of 100 travel miles and up to 500 bonus miles each year, based on total yearly purchases. The card will have an annual fee of 8.9%. If the cardholder uses the card with an Air Miles collector card, they will earn miles even faster. American Express officials were unavailable to comment on advertising plans for the card. Ogilvy & Mather of Toronto handles advertising for American Express. Wunderman, Cato, Johnson and Young & Rubicam, both of Toronto, create ads for The Loyalty Group. This is the second credit card the two companies have launched. Last year, the duo launched a co-branded card as well. The American Express Air Miles Gold Credit Card is the 10th credit card the company has introduced in Canada over the past two years.
