TORONTO LOOKING NEW IDENTITY
By Adnews Staff
Tourism Toronto is seeking a new look for the city. The organization launched a contest earlier this month asking people to design a new logo for the newly expanded city. The new graphic will be used on Tourism Toronto domestic and international advertising, promotional items and souvenirs. Currently, the Toronto skyline is used. Tourism Toronto president and CEO Kirk Shearer says in a release that Tourism Toronto is looking for a logo that promotes the personality of the city as an "exciting, progressive and desirable" place to live. "Everyone is familiar with the "apple" of New York. We want to create the same identification for Toronto rather than the often used Toronto skyline," Tourism communications director John Hamilton says in a release. The contest is being promoted using print ads. The organization has also been in contact with designers and design students. The contest closes Feb. 27 and the final decision will be made at the end of March. The Roberts Communication Group of Toronto developed the contest.
