FORD OFFERS NATIONAL USED VEHICLE PROGRAM

Oakville, Ont.-based Ford of Canada rolled out its Quality Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Program across the country last month. For vehicles to be sold under the program, Ford and Mercury vehicles are either less than three years old or have accumulated fewer than 60,000 km. Each must pass a 100-point quality inspection and reconditioning process. Lincoln models must be less than four years old or have less than 80,000 km to qualify. They must also go through the inspection and reconditioning processes All new Ford and Mercury vehicles have a three-year/60,000 km original warranty. New Lincolns have a four year/80,000 km warranty. Under the Quality Certified program, the warranty for Ford and Mercury vehicles has been extended to four years/80,000 km and to five years/100,000 km for Lincolns. Ford's Roadside Assistance program will be extended for one year/20,000 km for the pre-owned vehicles. It covers road service such as labor performed at the disablement site, delivery of fuel, battery boost and towing to the nearest dealership free of charge. The used vehicle program is being promoted using radio and print ads created by Young & Rubicam of Toronto. Ford tested the Quality Certified Pre-Owned in Ottawa and Hamilton, Ont. from last March until August.
