PATTISON BUYS CONTROLLING INTEREST IN MERCHANT MEDIA

The Jim Pattison Out-Of-Home Media Group has bought a 50.01% interest in Merchant Media of Toronto. Merchant Media became the sole sales representative of mall posters in Canada last September after buying the mall poster business of Gould Outdoor Advertising in Ontario, Hook Outdoor Advertising in Alberta and Seaboard Outdoor Advertising in B.C. Until then, it owned 82% of the mall poster faces in Canada. Hook and Seaboard act as sales representative houses for Merchant Media in their respective provinces. Under its Ski Media banner, Merchant Media also sells poster space on chairlift towers at 42 Canadian ski resorts.
