MICROSOFT TO LAUNCH CANADIAN HOME ESSENTIALS SOFTWARE

U.S.-based Microsoft Corp. will bring a Canadian version of its Home Essentials 98 software suite to Canada by mid-December. The suite contains the latest version of Word 97, the Encarta 98 encyclopedia, Money 98, Works 4.5, Greetings Workshop, the Puzzle Collection Entertainment Pack and Microsoft Internet Explorer. The suite allows consumers to do basic computing tasks such as writing a letter or composing a school report, researching a topic, managing their finances, keeping address books, creating personalized greeting cards, playing games and browsing the Internet. Microsoft is in the process of finalizing Canadian advertising for the suite. The Communique Group handles Canadian advertising for the software company, while Media Buying Services does media buying. Hill & Knowlton is responsible for PR. All agencies are based in Toronto.
