SAATCHI TRIES TO TURN UP THE HEAT
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising is encouraging Torontonians to donate their unused sleeping bags and warm clothing to Project Warmth. The agency launched a TV and poster campaign recently for the organization, which will collect the items and then distribute them to homeless people during the winter. The TV spot takes a comedic turn on being cold by having a stand-up comic tell "It's so cold" jokes to a group of homeless people. The conclusion is that it's so cold, it not funny. The poster shows a headless body sitting on a sidewalk grate wearing a jean jacket, jeans and running shoes. The headline reads, "There's nothing funny about being cold on the street." The ad goes on to tell people to drop off their old sleeping bag or blanket at the nearest Canadian Tire store. The ads will run until December, then be relaunched in January.
