SECOND CUP EXPANDS IN THE U.S.

Toronto-based specialty coffee retailer Second Cup Ltd. has increased its presence in the U.S. The company has merged its U.S. operations with the Coffee People of Portland, Oregon. Under the deal, Second Cup will own between 65% and 72% of Coffee People. Second Cup brings the Gloria Jean banner to the merger while Coffee People brings 45 outlets, including some Coffee Plantation outlets in Arizona that it purchased from Second Cup last May.
