BANK OF MONTREAL HITS THE ROAD

If the customers can't get to them, the Bank of Montreal will go to the customers. The Bank of Montreal launched an investors' center on wheels that will travel throughout Ontario to offer consumers investment information as well as a range of money management products and services. The mobile investment store will travel to local businesses, community events, Bank of Montreal branches, fairs and other special events. The bank also wants to target rural businesses that don't have quick access to services. The mobile unit will travel across Canada beginning next spring. The crew members will link with a Bank of Montreal financial services manager, a Nesbitt Burns investment advisor and a trust and investment services manger within each community that the unit visits. They will assist customers in identifying investment needs, answer questions and match clients with appropriate products and services. Inside, there will be a resource center featuring financial planning books, newspapers and borchures offering money management advice. Consumers will be able to use interactive kiosks to do a self-assessment and access information on trust and investment products. There are also two Internet stations and an electronic board with real time TSE stock quotes. The Bank of Montreal opened its first Investore earlier this year. It will open six more over the next six months in cities such as Hamilton and London, both in Ontario, as well as Calgary.
