TTC RENAMES SAVINGS PLAN
By Adnews Staff
The Toronto Transit Commission has given its Metropass Savings Plan a new name. The deal is now known as the Metropass Discount plan to better reflect the idea that people receive a discount when they use the plan, TTC spokesperson Marilyn Bolton told Adnews this week. Under the old name some people didn't know what the program was, and some thought it was a bank account. The Metropass Discount Plan offers riders 12 months of TTC travel for the cost of 11 months. Customers who sign up to take a minimum of 12 monthly Metropasses will have the passes mailed to their homes for $76 a month. The regular cost is $83. Seniors and students will pay $67 a month. The regular rate is $73. The plan is being promoted through ads on the TTC system and in community newspapers. Flyers are also being handed out at TTC locations. This advertising plan is being tested during the last quarter of the year. The TTC will review the plan and possibly revise it early next year. Advertising for the TTC is done by Communique of Toronto.
