ESSO GIVING AWAY TRIPS AND CARS IN HOCKEY PROMOTION
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Imperial Oil launched a sweepstakes this week to support its sponsorship of the Canadian men's and women's hockey teams competing in The Olympic Games in Japan. Participants in the contest have a chance to win one of 10 trips for two to the games, one of 10 new Dodge Durango sport utility vehicles and one of 500 Roots Olympic warm-up jackets. Esso customers will be automatically entered into the contest each time they use their Esso credit card. Customers who do not have an Esso credit card can obtain an Esso Extra card, which will enable customers to receive one entry with each purchase made. The card is not a credit or payment card. The sweepstakes is being promoted using TV ads and point-of-purchase materials. The ads feature Olympic hopefuls such as Brandan Shanahan, Rob Blake, Patrick Roy and Eric Desjardins, hockey legend Eddie Shack, broadcaster Ron MacLean and the voice of broadcaster Claude Quenneville. The English campaign was created by Goodgoll Curtis of Toronto, while the French-language campaign was done by Communications bleu blanc rouge of Montreal.
