LOTUS ADDS VOICE RECOGNITION TO SOFTWARE SUITE
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Lotus Development Corp. has added a speech recognition capability to its Smartsuite 97 software suite. The program includes a voice-enabled version of the Word Pro 97 word processing application that allows users to dictate text to their computers at rates of up to 140 words-per-minute. To input text into Word 97, users speak to the computer through a microphone. Word Pro 97 listens to what is being said and then transcribes the words into the word processor. The suite became available in North America this week. In Canada, the suite is being promoted using mainly point-of-purchase materials created by Ogilvy & Mather of New York. The agency's Toronto office localized the ads for the Canadian market. PR is being done by Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto.
