SCOTIABANK ENTERS INSURANCE BUSINESS IN ALBERTA
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Scotiabank is now selling home, apartment, condominium and auto insurance in Alberta. The products are being sold by the bank's insurance subsidiary, Scotia General Insurance Co. The insurance will be available through a toll-free phone number. Regulations do not allow banks to sell insurance through their branches. The service will be promoted using newspaper ads and direct mail. The campaign will be created by Cossette Communication-Marketing of Toronto. Scotiabank hasn't decided when or if it will launch the service in other provinces. In the past three years, Scotiabank has acquired three insurance subsidiaries: Scotia Life, Scotia General and Mortgage Insurance Company of Canada.
