CAB AWARD FINALISTS

The Canadian Association of Broadcasters have pared its list of finalists for the Gold Ribbon award down to 26 TV and 21 radio finalists. BCTV heads the pack with six entries among the 47 finalists, followed by CFTM-TV in Montreal with five entries. On the radio side, only CKRS of Chicoutimi and CJAD of Montreal have a shot at more than one award. A total of 166 entries were received from across Canada. The winner will be announced on Oct. 21 in Toronto. Up for grabs are awards for news, entertainment, information, promotion, Canadian talent development (radio) and two new categories, multi-market programming (TV) and "what radio does best". CAB represents the majority of Canada's advertising-supported radio and TV stations and specialty services.
