By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Compaq Computer Corp. of Houston expanded its worldwide Deskpro line of machines by releasing five new computers in the line this week. The computers are called the Despro 4000S, 6000, 4000, 2000 and 4000N Net PC. The 4000S is for small workspaces, being two-thirds the size of most desktop PCs. It also comes with an optional bracket for mounting the computer on the side of the desk or cubicle. The 2000, 4000 and 6000 use 233 MHz, 266 MHz and 300 MHz Intel processors respectively and range from entry level machines to high-end. The 4000N Net PC is suited for networked environments requiring centralized management and high-security in banks, hospitals, airlines, customer support centres and insurance companies where the user's primary use is task-specific such as data entry, data seeking and reservations. In Canada, Compaq will support the launch of the computers with a newspaper and magazine campaign. It will be created by Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of Toronto. Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto is doing PR.
