FERGIE RETURNS TO CANADIAN AIRWAVES

Weight Watchers International's Southern Ontario and Atlantic Canada franchises will relaunch their TV campaign featuring Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. The commercials began airing earlier this month, but were pulled after the death of the Duchess' former sister-in-law, Princess Diana. The ads promote the company's 1, 2, 3 Success diet. In the U.S., Weight Watchers launched an interim TV campaign this week. It features rolling type describing the program against the song Rescue Me. The Fergie ads will be relaunched later this month. North American advertising for Weight Watchers is done by Lowe & Partners/SMS of New York. Malis, Goldstrom, Hopson of Baltimore does media buying.
