ING TAKES ADVERTISING TO THE ROAD
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based ING Direct hit the road earlier this month to spread the word about its branchless banking products and services. The company has people on orange bikes riding around Southern Ontario, giving out orange Tic Tacs and postcards that offer information on ING's services. ING began operating its branchless bank in Southern Ontario in April. The company provides its customers with service over the phone, including opening accounts, customer requests for information as well as transactions. ING's primary product is an investment savings account, a daily interest savings account that pays 4% interest per annum on any balance with no service charges or monthly fees. Customers can withdraw their money at any time without penalty. Other products include a GIC and an RRSP. ING plans to expand its services in Canada, but when and where will be announced at a later date. When ING began operating, it promoted itself using billboards, TV and newspaper ads created by Garneau, Wurstlin, Philp of Toronto. Clarke Fraser Communications of Toronto handles PR. ING Direct is a federally chartered Canadian trust company, and is part of the ING Group of Amsterdam.
