GLENTEL TURNS BACK TO CONSUMERS

Glentel Inc. of Burnaby, B.C. has returned to the consumer market. The company has opened five new stores in the B.C. The company already has 15 stores across Canada that focus on the business market, but now they will target consumers as well. Glentel had outlets across Canada from 1985 to 1990 that focused on the consumer market. It sold the stores to Toronto-based Rogers Cantel, and began targeting the business market. Called Glentel Wirelesswave, the stores sell Cantel, Clearnet Communications' and Microcell Solutions' wireless products. They also help to integrate customers' wireless products. The company decided to turn back to consumers because of the anticipated growth of the personal communication services operated by Cantel, Clearnet and Microcell. The stores will be promoted using print and radio ads created in-house.
