PROGRAM SET COLOR STANDARDS FOR NEWSPAPERS
By Adnews Staff
Publicitas Advertising Services of Stamford, Connecticut has introduced a color management program that reduces color mismatch problems for newspaper ads. Called Color Solutions, the program takes a diagnostic performance profile of the newspaper's press, including ink hues, ink contamination, press gains and losses and plate gains and losses, all within the constraints of newspaper process color inks and the condition of the press. Newspapers that successfully complete the CSN-1 program are given a dated certificate, designating their status as a CSN-1 print site. "Advertisers can be assured that if the newspaper is a designated CSN-1 print site, their advertisements will be reproduced as an accurate color match to their original ad. From the newspaper industry's perspective, consistent color from newspaper to newspaper is a key ingredient for increasing overall newspaper ad revenue dollars," Publicitas graphic services vice-president Hoshin Seki says in a release. Once a newspaper receives CSN-1 certification, the agency includes it in its worldwide database and notifies advertisers and third party electronic carriers that the newspaper has joined its quality network.
