SANYO LIGHTS UP THE SKY

Sanyo North America of San Diego is reaching to the skies as part of its 50th anniversary celebration. The home electronics company has launched a blimp to fly above major outdoor public events, business events and trade shows attended by the Sanyo companies in North America. The goal of the blimp is to publicize the Sanyo name across diverse industries and product categories where the company does business. It will be seen in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada. Sanyo has dubbed the blimp a "lightship" because of its luminosity in the dark. The blimp glows at night using two 1,000 watts metal halide bulbs which light up the interior. It has translucent skin, can seat nine passengers and can cruise at a top speed of 65 miles-per-hour at an altitude of up to 2,000 feet. Sanyo manufactures audio/visual equipment, home appliances, rechargeable batteries, solar cells, medical equipment, air conditioning equipment, semiconductors and optoeletronics parts for multimedia products.
