SMOKERS UNDER FIRE IN NORWAY

Norway's Ministry of Health wants to reward non-smokers by giving them extra time off. The organization will present a proposal to the government suggesting that non-smokers receive extra weeks of vacation each year. The deal is part of the ministry's ongoing anti-smoking program. Norway already bans tobacco advertising on radio, TV and in print. Smoking is also banned in the workplace. Norwegian Medical Association president Hans Petter believes its a good idea to reward non-smokers because research shows they are more productive than people who smoke.
