DIGITAL GOES WITH ONE AGENCY
By Adnews Staff
Digital Equipment Corp. of Maynard, Massachusetts has given its $110 million(US) global account to DDB Needham Worldwide of New York. The agency already had most of Digital's corporate account, but it now adds the personal computer business which was formerly handled by Young & Rubicam of New York. The move means DDB's Toronto office will handle all Canadian advertising for the computer maker. Digital in Canada had worked with Y&R's Toronto office in the past, but hasn't done so in "some time," Canadian communications director Ron Catcheside told Adnews yesterday. The Canadian subsidiary worked with Y&R in New York. DDB and Y&R had been battling for the consolidated account since earlier this year when Digital decided to merge its PC and products operations into a single marketing unit effective this month.
