PANASONIC TO MAKE AGENCY DECISION IN OCTOBER
By Adnews Staff
Panasonic Canada of Mississauga, Ont. will decide who will handle its consumer products advertising in early October. A short list of five agencies will be drawn up later this month and presentations will be made in late September. Thirteen agencies are on the long list. DDB Canada of Toronto has been Panasonic's agency for 11 years. It will be one of the short listed agencies. Consumer communications manager Robert Scott told Adnews the company is not unhappy with DDB, but felt it was time to do a review. In the past few years Panasonic has targeted the youth market, but with digital audio and video products it wants to begin targeting the over-30 market. Panasonic is owned by Matsushita Electric Industrial of Japan.
