APPLE UPGRADES OPERATING SYSTEM

Apple Computer Inc. of Palo Ato, California has launched a new operating system in North America for its Macintosh computers. Called Mac OS 8, the software makes it easier to connect to the Internet and fixes some glitches of earlier versions. Apple hopes to generate some much-needed revenue for the company. Mac OS 8 is also expected to tide over software developers until Apple introduces a new generation of Macintosh computers. Mac OS 8 offers users more direct system access and control, featuring spring-loaded folders which open when a file is dragged on top of them and pop-up windows that allow folders, hard drives or network volumes to be moved to the bottom of the screen in the form of a tab which can be opened with a single click. Contextual menus give a list of actions that apply to a selected icon, window or text when it is clicked while holding down the control key. In Canada, Apple is promoting the operating system using PR done by National Public Relations of Toronto. Canadian advertising for Apple is done by BBDO Canada of Toronto.
