CLEARNET OFFERS ROAMING SERVICE

Clearnet Communications of Pickering, Ont. has teamed up with U.S.-based Nextel Communications to introduce a roaming digital phone service. Under the deal, Clearnet digital phone service customers can use their phones in over 250 U.S. cities served by Nextel and make calls for the same price they pay at home. Long distance charges are a standard 41 cents per minute and there are no set up fees and surcharges, charges for incomplete calls or special access codes. The service is being promoted using print ads created by Taxi Advertising & Design of Toronto. Media Experts of Montreal handles media buying. Airport advertising will be launched in the fall. Clearnet plans to introduce its personal communcations service in Canada's urban centres later this year.
