BANKS OFFERING FREEBIES TO GET CARD TESTED

The Bank of Montreal, the Toronto Dominion Bank and Canada Trust are trying to encourage Kingston, Ont. residents to try out their Exact cards. The trio launched a direct mail campaign last week in the city targeting customers who use automated banking machines. Consumers received the Exact card along with a voucher for two movie passes to Cineplex Odeon theatres. They must load the Exact cash card to use the vouchers. The campaign was created by Publicis*BCP of Toronto. In addition, the banks recently launched a radio, print and transit campaign in Kingston to promote the Exact card. This campaign was handled by BCP and Bates Canada of Toronto. The Exact card is a stored value card. The three banks have been testing the card in Kingston since last October. The pilot project is scheduled to last until the end of the year.
