AIR CANADA SELLS REGIONAL CARRIER
By Adnews Staff
Air Canada has sold NorthWest Territorial Airways to First Air of Carp, Ont. The move was made because NorthWest didn't fit into Air Canada's core business. Under the deal, Air Canada and First Air will enhance their current commercial relationship, which already includes benefits to Aeroplan members and a range of joint fares for passengers traveling on both networks. Advertising for NWT Air is done by MacPhee Jesson of Toronto. For the time being, the agency will continue with the account, sales development and corporate communications manager Tracy St. Denis told Adnews yesterday. NWT flies to Northern Canada, Greenland, Ottawa and Montreal. First Air is a subsidiary of Makivik Crop., an Inuit investment and development company.
