SEARS SWITCHES TO Y&R
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Sears Canada has hired Young & Rubicam of Toronto to handle its broadcast and magazine advertising. Print ads such as flyers will continue to be handled in-house. The agency was hired after its New York parent company won the U.S. business for Sears, Roebuck & Co. The Canadian business will be served with a combination of resources from Y&R's Toronto and New York offices. The change supports Sears Canada's repositioning in the marketplace, marketing executive vice-president Rick Sorby says in a release. The incumbent on the account was Bozell Retail of Toronto. Sears has 110 retail stores across Canada, five free-standing furniture stores and over 1,800 catalogue pick-up locations.
