NEWMED EVALUATING ADVERTISING POSSIBILITIES

NEWMED Corp. of Newton, Massachusetts introduced a product to the North American market this week that will help asthma sufferers keep track of the amount of medication remaining in their Metered Dose Inhalers. However, the company hasn't decided yet how it will promote the product, Yael Zisling, spokesperson from NEWMED's U.S. PR agency, Yael Zisling Marketing & PR, told Adnews yesterday. Zisling has been asked to evaluate a possible ad budget and how to go about advertising. Zisling said it is possible NEWMED will hire an agency for the product, but that it is too early to tell. She also couldn't indicate whether separate agencies will be hired in the U.S. and Canada. With a self-contained microcomputer, the product, called the Doser, counts and displays the number of inhalations remaining in the MDI and displays the number of inhalations taken in the current day. It also stores the number of inhalations taken in each of the last 30 days in its memory and alerts the user when the MDI is nearly empty. NEWMED is a medical device company specializing in porducts that help people manage theirown respiratory health.
