COMPAQ ADDS TO ARMADA LINE, DROPS PRICES

Compaq Computer Corp. of Houston has expanded its line of Armada notebook computers and reduced prices on older Armada and LTE products by up to 24%. The four new models are the 1580DMT, 1530DM, 4150 and the 4160T. The 1580DMT includes 150 Mhz Intel processor with MMX technology for multimedia and full motion performance. It also comes equipped with a 2.1 gigabyte hard drive and a 12.1-inch screen. The 1530DM features a 133 Mhz Intel Pentium processor with MMX technology, 1.4 gigabyte hard drive and a 12.1-inch screen. The 4150 features a 1.6 gigabyte hard drive, while the 4160T features is the most powerful machine in the line. It provides a 12.1-inch screen, 2.06 gigabyte hard drive and a selection of pointing devices including the centre-mounted touch pad or optical trackball. In Canada, print advertising for the new products will be launched in the third quarter of the year. It will be created by Ammirati & Puris/Lintas of Toronto. Canadian PR is done by Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto. Prices on two LTE notebook computers have dropped by up to 7% in Canada, while seven Armada models saw price decreases of up to 24%.
