H-P TO UNVEIL COMMERCIAL DESKTOP PC
By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Hewlett-Packard will introduce a new commercial desktop PC to the worldwide market in August. Called the HP Net Vectra PC, the computer adheres fully to the NetPC reference specification authored by Microsoft Corp., Intel Corp, HP and other computer manufacturers. The Net Vectra PC can be used for centrally managed information technology environments such as customer support or financial transactions. An optional smart-card-ready keyboard will allow password-free access to any similarly equipped PC on the customer network. A security system locks access to the system when the user is away from the desktop. In Canada, H-P currently has no plans to promote this machine specifically. Advertising for H-P in Canada is done by Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising of Toronto.
