CBC APPLIES FOR VICTORIA LICENCE
By Adnews Staff
Radio listeners on Vancouver Island may soon be hearing the voice of the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. The organization has filed an application with the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission to bring CBC English Radio to Victoria and Vancouver. The CBC says it plans to produce locally originated programming about Victoria and Vancouver. This will include a three-hour weekday morning show, as well as information updates throughout the rest of the day. The CBC will use an educational FM channel in Victoria, leaving the last remaining hight-power commercial FM frequency in the area available for another broadcaster. Victoria is currently the only provincial capital without local CBC service.
