MAZDA CHANGES BRAND SYMBOL
By Adnews Staff
Japan-based Mazda Motor Corp. will introduce a new worldwide brand symbol on its 1998 line of vehicles. The symbol features an oval containing a stylized winged 'M'. There is also a 'V' in the centre of the 'M' that spreads out like an opening fan. Mazda says this is to represent "the creativity, the sense of mission, the gentleness and flexibility, the resoluteness and vitality that are Mazda." The new symbol will be featured in ad campaigns beginning in the fall. In Canada, advertising for Mazda is done by FCB of Toronto. Until now, the brand symbol for Mazda cars was a stylized flame within a circle.
